Six dLives & a major multi-purpose installation A&H

ALLEN&HEATH

The Berry Center is a multi-purpose facility in Houston, Texas. They've just installed no less than six dLive systems, connected via GigaACE and Dante.

The Requirement
The Berry Center is located in Cypress, TX, one of the largest suburban communities just north west of the Houston metroplex. The Berry Center is a multi-purpose facility that offers the community a location for business meetings, concerts, parties, and school functions and performances. The 65 acre site is home to an arena, football stadium, theatre, and conference center. Previously the onsite AV team were one of the first sites to embrace the iLive system, Allen & Heaths original flagship digital consoles. They enjoyed the functionality of the desk and simplification in routing with network control with a surface if not needed. So the requirements are simple, an easy to use control surface and similar functionality from the previous form factor.

The Solution
The time had come for a facelift and Ford AV, the previous integrator, was brought back onboard. With higher channel count needs and scalability with multiple audio transport protocols the dLive seemed like a prefect fit. A culmination of S Class MixRacks and Surfaces was the ideal way to go. All 6 Surfaces and MixRacks were loaded out with two GigaACE cards and a Dante card with Adapt-A for audio distribution and 16 channels of digital inputs from Shure ® ULXD’s at each mixing station. What makes this installation stand out from the reset is the audio distribution throughout the campus. Cisco ® SG500’s handle the heavy load with a Fiber Ring for each audio transport, Giga-ACE and Dante, along with network control for each system. Currently the football stadium is utilizing a GLD-80c and by summer of 2018, the Berry Center plans on upgrading to a C Class series and that will tie into the current fiber ring for further signal distribution of audio.

“WE UPGRADED TO THE DLIVE SYSTEMS TO GAIN A SYSTEM THAT COULD OPERATE AT A HIGHER BIT RATE, PROVIDE A LARGER CHANNEL I/O AND DIGITAL SPLITS THROUGH BOTH DANTE AND GIGA-ACE PROTOCOLS. THESE FEATURE'S ALLOWED US TO MIX FROM ANYWHERE IN THE FACILITY TO ANYWHERE.”
